Trade Terms

2016-07-21

Our main Trade Terms are: Ex-Works, FOB, CFR, CIF, DDU.

Ex-Works: (named place of collection in country of export).

Lingfran makes the goods available at our factory for collection. Goods are supplied export packed, being suitable for sea or air shipment. The buyer is responsible for uploading.

The buyer is responsible for clearing the goods for export and pays all transportation costs and also bears the risks for bringing the goods to their final destination.

Lingfran does not load the goods on the collecting vehicles and doesn't clear them for export. If we do load the goods we would do so at buyer's risk and cost. If parties wish us to be responsible for the loading of the goods on departure and to bear the risk and all costs of such loading, this must be made clear in writing at the time of purchase.

FOB: Free on Board (named sea port in country of export).

Lingfran is responsible for clearing the goods for export and loading the goods on board a vessel designated by the buyer.

Basically Lingfran arranges for the transportation of goods to the port and pays for uploading onto the vessel. The passing of risk from Linglam to the buyer occurs when the goods pass the ship's rail at the port of shipment.  The buyer pays for all subsequent costs - ie marine freight transportation, insurance and DDP Charges (Clearance, Handling, Import Duties/Taxes & Local Delivery Charges).

CFR: Cost and Freight (named destination Seaport or Container Freight Station).

Lingfran pays for carriage to the named destination sea port or container freight station.

Insurance for the goods is NOT included and is the responsibility of the buyer. Risk is transferred to the buyer once the goods are loaded on the vessel. On arrival at the destination sea port or container freight station the buyer is responsible for clearing and arranging delivery of the goods to the final destination and is responsible for paying all arising DDP Charges (Clearance, Handling, Import Duties/Taxes & Local Delivery Charges).

CIF: Cost, Insurance and Freight (named destination Seaport or Container Freight Station).

Lingfran pays for carriage to the named destination sea port or container freight station.

DDU: Delivered Duty Unpaid (named place of destination).

Lingfran pays for carriage to the named destination place and covers any associated Customs Clearance costs.

Lingfran assumes all risks prior to the point that the goods are ready for offloading by the buyer. Any Import Duties / Taxes & local Sales Taxes applicable on importation would be for the account of the Buyer.

These are the terms typically utilised / applied when shipping via Express (DHL, FedEx or UPS, etc).
